SKI (ALPHA) starts in a snowy mountain hub. Walking onto the slope equips your skis automatically. Speed builds on its own. The official description is blunt: it is hard to reach the bottom until you can hold speed without crashing.
Before the first drop
Wait until your character has fully spawned. Buttons and prompts are unreliable during the load. You do not need a paid ski to start. Published guides describe unlocks as cosmetics, so a new account can take the same line as a stacked one.
If you want the free cosmetics first, redeem the reported codes from the Codes page, then come back to the slope. Codes are not required to finish a run.
A first clean run
- From the hub, walk onto the ski tracks that leave the mountain top. Skis equip as you start sliding.
- Steer with W, A, S, D, the arrow keys, or the left stick. Use small corrections. Sharp swerves at speed are how runs die.
- Look farther down the hill than the obstacle directly in front of you. Start the turn early so you are already lined up.
- Jump with Space on keyboard or A on a controller only when the takeoff is stable. Skip jumps on this first attempt if the landing is not obvious.
- Stay on snow until the course ends. A crash sends you back to the hub.
A clean finish is the goal, not a record. One guide notes that you still receive XP and Coins when a run ends in a wipeout, and that retries do not add an extra penalty. The lost time is the crash itself. Combo score from the air does not survive a bad landing.
What to change after you finish once
- Straighten the line only on sections you already clear.
- Add one jump, then one trick input, instead of stacking both at once.
- Open Settings from the gear icon if trick inputs keep firing when you only meant to steer. The Tricks toggle can be switched off while steering and jumping stay on.
- Use the Ghost Racer toggle if you want a translucent copy of your best run on that server. Only you see it.
Done when
You reach the bottom without a wipeout, then repeat that finish. After that, the useful next pages are controls and tricks, then spring pads and landings.
